an angelic wall hanging

Started working on the next artist class project yesterday and finished it up today. The original was to be 11 by 14 but I liked it better smaller so it is now 8 1/2 by 11.

I used vintage sheet music and vintage lace pieces. Good thing I have an antique shop where such items are available.

I will be taking a couple days off from the artist class projects but will be back at it in a few days.

Snow and shoes

If you are living in the mid-atlantic area you KNOW there was quite a bit of snow this weekend. Fortunately for those of us in the NE section of PA we only got a few inches of the stuff. Here is a picture of two outdoor chairs on our patio. You can see, if you look closely, that there is about three inches of snow on the white chair. That was taken after the storm passed so that is probably what we got. I feel so bad for the Virginians, and Marylanders who really don't know what to do with all the snow. I know, when we lived in Maine, 20 inches was a lot of snow but didn't slow things down all that much.


Here is a picture of my "shoe" in the paper shoe project of the Artist Class. I shortened the heel a bit cause it didn't want to stand up that well with the spikey heel. I found these pretty flowers to dress it up. I still have one more project to complete for the weeks projects. The next one is a pretty flower. Hope to start on it later today

My first Artist Class Project is done.... On to the next one soon.


This is the Valentines Day Hanging Heart. It is missing the "love bird"in the original because I don't have one in my stash of art stuff. But when next I go to a craft shop I hope to find one.
But meanwhile I am pleased with it and it is hanging up in the dining room.



When I took the artist class series back in Oct.- Nov. I was fortunate enough to win a wonderful prize... CD of all tutorials and all the graphics, plus a lot of extra graphics from the lady who runs the classes, Mary Green of Green Paper.

This time I decided I would keep a notebook of all the tutorials printed out so if I want to do any of them again I can easily do so. My luck probably won't allow me to win another prize. But that is ok as I was thrilled last time.

Here is my book this time....
I put a title page for each tutorial and included the printed out pages. I feel so organized this time. There are little pockets inside the front and back covers where I am keeping the templates for the projects. I believe I found the notebook at Wal-Mart.

I hope to get started on the next tutorial tomorrow. But my antique shop opens Thurs. though Sunday so I can never be sure how much time I will have. I will post as soon as I have something to show.

ARTIST CLASS

Back in November I joined a group called Artist Class and made some pretty neat items following all the tutorials. I was excited to sign up for the next series which begins tomorrow. If you are curious about the class you can check it out here..............Check out the Feathered Nest. She has a description of the class and you can even get a discount on the price there.

We received a list of supplies we needed and last night I spent time up in my studio searching out those supplies. I still have to look a bit more to find all I need but it appears I won't have to buy anything at all for the first three classes. I do have a well stocked studio.

So check out my blog over the next week. I hope to get the projects done quickly..... well, at least fairly soon.

Marie in a box

I decided to combine my enjoyment of Marie Antoinette style and my latest Artist Class Project.

This series of artist classes has come to an end though I am still working on my projects and will probably finish them all at about the time the next set begins. I believe they will start up again in Jan. or Feb.

In my artist class, one of the projects was a lined box. I did not do mine exactly the same because I found a box I liked and lined it, instead of making the box first. The insides of the box are crinkled silk I found on eBay. And the picture of the lady with the teapot is from Sandra Evertson, offered in a Romantic Homes issue back in 2008. I don't have the exact date as I had ripped the picture out of the magazine and to save for a future project. There was a copyright date of 2008 on the picture.

Next I decided to put a picture of Marie on the front. The picture was from a magazine called MARIE.. inspired mixed media art, published by Stampington and Company. The picture was one that Lonnie Bullington has created using paper tole....( that is a whole different subject.) I next invaded the box where I store all my interesting trims, ribbons and lace. I found this tassel trim and knew it was perfect. The trim seems to get caught under the lid a bit so didn't photograph as well as I would have liked but here it is.

I now plan to fill the box with other Marie type art that I created like jewelry, ATCs and who knows what else. Fun is often every bit of much in the planning as in the doing.

Artful Thursday

I have been working on a number of artlike projects of late but this is the only one that is finished today. Maybe next week I can show more than one item, you never know.
The following project was one of the many we have been given instructions for in the ARTIST CLASSES I am involved with right now. This is the second I have finished.
These snowmen ornaments are made from paperclay as well as book pages, glass glitter and silver tinsel

They were fun to make. I hope the folks I give them to will like them as well.
