Sharing a special tea set (or is it coffee?)

Spring is definitely here.  The weather varies from day to day as the season makes its transition.  In the past week we have a couple of days of rain, some cool temps and some warm days.
Everything is getting greener and tiny leaves are showing up on all the trees.  I do love this time of year!  It is like we get a fresh start.

Today I am sharing a special set of Polish Porcelain pottery I found at a flea market a while back.  I almost didn't buy it but quickly changed my mind when I realized how much it looked my very favorite china, Royal Albert's Country Roses.

At first I had only wanted to take a picture of it to put on my blog but the more I thought about it the more I knew I needed to get it for myself.  And of course you know I did!

I realized, after I bought it, that it probably was a coffee set since the pot was a "coffee pot" style, not a teapot.... and since the cups were so small, perhaps it was for "demitasse."  And after checking around the internet I determined it is definitely a coffee pot and demitasse cups and saucers. But what ever it is, I like it and I now own it!!!  (LOL)   The cups could be used at a child's tea party since they are small.

A November TeaCup for November!

I realized I should show my Royal Albert NOVEMBER cup and saucer while we are in November.
The flower for November is the Chrysanthemum and I thought they would use fall colors on their November tea cup but instead they chose the pink.   It is very pretty so I guess I can understand why they chose it.   It is not your normal fall themed cup and saucer.

I am showing it here on a pretty pink table cloth and accompanied by one of my favorite Fenton vases.

Of course, since it is the special cup for November it says so inside the rim.

I love the beautiful spray of Chrysanthemums on the side of the saucer and the bold picture on the front side of the cup.

 Here is the mark indicating it is from the flower of the month series.  I do have a few others of the months, mostly just the significant ones for our household.  November is my daughter's birthday month so it is important!

 One last picture before I sign off this week.  Continuing with the sage of Hurricane Sandy and all the trees that came down, here is an updated picture of the amount of wood my husband has cut up so far.  He is not even a third of the way done.  He will be no doubt cutting until Spring or Summer!  And then the splitting must be done for stove wood.  But it is underway.

Teacups in November

     November has arrived.  And it is time for Tea Cup Tuesday but I have some pictures to share first.
  
This week we are still recovering a bit from the storm of last week.  Although we suffered no wheres near the devastation as they did in the coastal area we got a lot of wind and lost a number of trees.
      Here are a some pictures to show some of the mess.  My husband will be working til spring cutting up all the wood I imagine..  There were at least 10 big trees down and numerous smaller ones.

The day after my husband started to cut up some of the wood the deer arrived to enjoy all the leaves that were now closer for them to nibble. You can see the first of the woodpile.  It is only from branches he has trimmed.  The big stuff awaits.

      This part weekend we ventured up to Syracuse, NY to visit with daughter and family.  While there we went to a grandson's cross country meet.  It was the first time we had ever seen him run in a meet.  He CAN RUN!!!
      The weather was strange the whole time.  It was raining then spitting snow then rain again.  Didn't every really see the sun.
      However, we did manage to get to the Syracuse Regional Market.  And it was another good time.  We bought some things for the shop and some things to eat.  There were still lots of veggies and fruit vendors there.
  Here was the selection at one table.....

And while there I was on the lookout for Tea Cups and saucers at usual.  Only one vendor had ANY!  Here is a picture of that group.

The majority of these were unmarked but probably Japanese, including the geisha ware cup and saucer and plate.  There were several demitasse sets as well.  But I was pleasantly surprised to see they had one Royal Chelsea.  As I said a couple of weeks ago, I had never seen one before the set my husband had bought for me.  And now I have seen two.  I don't think this one is as pretty as the one I have but had to photograph it to show you.  I am sorry one picture isn't too great.  But I was doing the photographing in a hurry and didn't realize the one wasn't very clear.  But I hope you get the idea.

Final Tea Cup Tuesday of October 2012

For those of you checking on how I am doing, I thank you....  we fared just fine in the storm.  A lot of noisy wind all night.  Lots of branches down and a few trees down up in our woods.  We feel so lucky to have kept our power.  I am praying for all my friends that they are ok as well!  This was not a fun event and so many lost so much. Please keep those other folks in mind!



       This week I decided to do something a bit different.  And I am creating this page early.  It will post Monday afternoon because of Hurricane Sandy.
     I went out into my shop today (Saturday) and found a few tea party items I thought might go well together.  
    I like the idea that they are all have soft pink flower for their decoration.  Also they aren't my usual showing.  They are not bone china.  Instead today I have chosen some porcelain types, from Austria and Bavaria.  I hope you enjoy seeing them.

  
 The sugar and creamer and the interesting serving plate have no marks at all but I am pretty sure they are from the similar area of the place and cup and saucer in the back.


The plate is from Austria according to its mark but I wouldn't find a name of the pattern.  It is actually  from a set of dishes I have in my shop.

 Here is a close up of the cup and saucer I chose.  It does have a pattern name, Rosedale and is from Bavaria.  It also is a part of a set of china I have in the shop.  Even though they aren't from the same set I think they go together nicely.

Fourth Tea Cup Tuesday of October

For this week, since it is Breast Cancer Awareness month I thought I would show something with pink as a dominant color.  As a Breast Cancer Survivor for 10 years now I think this is a VERY important month!  However, don't forget all the other cancer's that folks suffer with have "causes" that may not be well "supported."    Remember them and support them as well.... (Enough said... I will get off my little soapbox.)


This past week we were able to go to our favorite farmers market and while there my husband found and later surprised me with this beautiful cup, saucer and plate set.  It is from a company I have not heard much about.... Royal Chelsea. 

 

Royal Chelsea was produced by New Chelsea China Co Ltd Longton. Staffordshire Potteries from about 1943 to 1961. 

 

    I think they make stunningly beautiful china so I will certainly be on the lookout for MORE!!!

 

 When I checked out the marks on these pieces I learned that the cup and saucer were probably made prior to 1951.... and this is the mark on them.

The plate's mark was newer.  It was made sometime after 1951 however they still could have been bought together if the store still has come of the older stock, or perhaps they ordered the plate later on.

 
 I really liked this set and even though Royal Chelsea is a bit new to me I shall be on the lookout for MORE!

AND, check back on Friday.  I am working on about fabric flowers.  I found an interesting way to make them using a special tool. I am hoping to have enough finished petals... yes that is a small hint, to have something to show you!

Third TeaCup Tuesday in October

Wow, October is moving right along.  It will be Halloween before we know it so here is a little something I made to get in the spirit.  It is a black cat from a pattern by a recent issue of Creat and Decorate Magazine.

But on to Tea Cup Tuesday. 

This week I am showing the second cup and saucer set I found at the Leesport Flea Market two weeks ago.   I saved it for last because it is from my favorite maker, Royal Albert.  I was so surprised and happy to find it for a reasonable price.

This is a Royal Albert pattern called Enchantment.  According to the Royal Albert Pattern website I learned the following information about the pattern. 

Enchantment

                                                                       1950 to 1980s

           Description: Turquoise border,  floral bouquet in the center, with gold trim.                                                                                 Cup Shape: Malvern

By the way, if you want to learn a LOT of information check out that website by clicking on the word "cup shape" above.  I don't know how complete it is but it must be pretty complete because there are a lot mentioned.

First Teacup Tuesday in October

 Fall is moving right along.  The trees are slowly beginning to turn and the nights are cooler.  I am enjoying the better days.  To bring the fall spirit into the house I made up this little centerpiece from a fancy alum bowl I found out in my antique shop and some other things I found around the house including the glass cloche.  This glass cloche was a top from a cheese board.  Never used it for that.  I did use it over a miniature scene once in the past.
This idea is not an original with me by any means.  I found the idea  on a favorite blog I read....  Very Merry Vintage Style....   click here to see her many neat ideas!

 

 This picture shows how I placed the fall looking items in the base.

 And this next picture shows it with the candle in a small white bowl.

That is how I would use it if I was burning the candle.  But when not burning I would leave out the bowl.

For Tea Cup Tuesday this week I found this Spode plate to use to get in the mood for fall.  And placed it next to some Chinese Lanterns from my garden. 

For the cup and saucer this week I selected this one from Royal Vale,  I couldn't find a pattern name anywhere.  But I like the colors for fall.

TeaCup Tuesday across the border.

Last week I traveled to New Brunswick to visit family and while there we attended a huge flea market in Sussex.
One of the things I always look for there is teacup of course.  Canadians love their tea and they like to drink it in bone china teacups.  SO.... there are always lots of teacups available.  I admit I bought about 10 sets.  I will be showing them in the weeks to come.  But meanwhile I thought I would share pictures of many of the teacups I found that were available for sale!

I didn't get a lot of info on the teacups because there were so many.  Also there were about 900 dealers at this flea market and I would have never been able to see them all if I didn't keep moving.  They weren't all selling teacups that is for sure.  However there were a lot.  I just took some sample pictures!
