My Pansy teacup for today is this pretty one.  It is by Queen Anne, one of my favorite companies and is called, appropriately for this time of year.....   Spring Melody.

 I love the fact that there is a pansy inside the cup as well, to enjoy as you are drinking your tea.

 And the saucer is filled with more beautiful pansies.

In addtition to the cup and saucer I am sharing a few other items as well.

 Here is a beautiful pitcher and mug in front of a pansy plate I made.  I will explain a bit farther down this blog entry.  As you can see it is Royal Ironstone.  I imagine it is handpainted, maybe not by that company.  No one signed so can't be sure.

 

This pretty little mug was hand painted and made in Germany.  I always keep the little violet hankie tucked inside when not in use.

 And finally, the pansy plate.  I bought a clear glass plate, cut out pansies from some fancy napkins, glued them on the bottom and painted the entire bottom with gold paint.  This protects the decoupaged prints. I use it for a decorative accessory but you could use it to serve with as long as you wash it by hand, carefully.

Its Flea Market time again!

I was so happy to wake up yesterday to a nice weather day....  it meant we could head south to our favorite Flea Market in Leesport.  It was still cool when we first got there but the sun was fully out and as the morning wore on it got warmer and more pleasant.

There were lots of dealers and lots of thing to buy for my antique shop.  I did buy quite a bit but didn't take any pictures.  Didn't buy any plants or veggies today.  It isn't quite time yet.

It was a good day to do a lot of looking too.

I started by visiting the buildings that feature food and newer things.  I was a good girl and only bought some coffee.

But was really tempted by the baked goods.  Refrained though... aren't I good.

I looked at some of the items available in the "butcher" section.
I hope I don't offend anyone but I have to say these three foods will NEVER be part of a menu at my house.

 

I don't know if you can read it but it includes Tongue Souse,  Pig Feet Souse and Ham Hocks. Not my type of food.


Since it is an agricultural market as well I always visit the goats.  This one was quite friendly.

 And then I took some pictures of things that are interesting ideas for craft projects.

We won't be able to get to this flea market again for a few weeks.  Should be able to buy lots of veggies and maybe some plants?  Can hardly wait!

Tea Cup Tuesday, First Tuesday in March

Spring is coming soon!!!!   I am back at Tea Cup Tuesday.  And for this month I am going to share my Pansy teacups and other items.  Pansies have always been my favorite flowers.  I have a great collection of Pansy postcards, other pansy paper items and Tea Things which I will be sharing here for a while.

 Todays teacup is a  Elizabethan Bone China one from England.  The little sugar and creamer are from Japan. AND the book I am showing is a really neat one.  It is a wonderfully illustrated book of tea party ideas for Children..  It is written by Lucille Recht Penner and illustrated by Jody Wheeler.  It includes menus, recipes, decorations and favors to make. Great for children but fun for adults too.

This teacup is one of my favorite Pansy Tea Cups by Elizabethan China.

And this sweet little Sugar and Creamer set is so dainty.  It was hard to resist when I found it.

No Teacup Tuesday this week

Sorry but there is no way I can do TeaCup Tuesday this week.  Way too much going on in my life.
I will be back later in the week with a decluttering and quilting updates.  And next week with TeaCup Tuesday.

Decluttering and quilting

The Decluttering continues.  This past week our new couch and love seat arrived so before it could be put into place we did a lot of "decluttering" in the living room.  Actually DH did most cause he had the most to do.  I had already done a lot in the previous two weeks. We did get rid of an end table cause it doesn't fit anymore.  It went out to the shop and is already sold!   We got rid of 24 Nascar magazines and 45 issues of the Bluegrass Unlimited magazine.  They are going to recycling.  Also I filled a big kitchen trash bag of junk from my studio.  I spent at least 10 minutes a day, each day this week getting rid of stuff.  I hope I get this done before I leave it all for the kids to sort through some day.  LOL  He filled a box with catalogs, old magazines and other stuff to go to recycling.   So I will just count that as 1. So if I count the magazines and the table and the trash bag and his box that means another 72 items gone from the house!  So I am now up to 203 items total, just 163 items to go. At this rate I will be done by the end of March.
 I don't think I will do as well this coming week cause DH wants me to get some stuff ready to go on ebay and that will take my spare time.  But in a sense that is decluttering too cause he is getting rid of some more "stuff."

I have been practicing my machine quilting too.  It certainly does take practice.  Expecially using the darning foot to do free motion quilting.  Wow, I really thought I was steadier than that!.  No way will I show you my "examples.!"

 I have started a little paper pieces wall hanging too.  It is slow going cause I am trying to fussy cut the center squares.    Good it only has 9 squares.  I have one finished to show you and several squares underway. These squares about 4 inches wide.

    Hope to get it finished by next weekend when I have another wall hanging waiting to be worked on.
Now I have to run and make Caramel Corn (my daughter's MIL's recipe) to take to a Daytona Race viewing party tomorrow.  Never a dull moment.

This week I am going to start off with this tea book from Victoria Magazine. THE CHARMS OF TEA.  Loaded with recipes, pictures and instructions on how to have a proper tea.  I imagine you can get one from Victoria Magazine publishers.  Or certainly Amazon.

 For my show and tell this week I have a pretty little tea set I have for sale in my shop.  It is a sweet set from Bavaria.  The marks on the bottoms were very hard to read so I didn't take a picture of the mark, sorry. Click on the pictures to see them better.

I took a close up of the handle cause I though it was cute.

Decluttering and stuff

Here I am doing the decluttering report thing again.  If you aren't interested, don't read.  I must admit I am just doing it since I promised myself I would and it is a good way to make myself not forget to do it!

Only a quick note today on the decluttering front.  We recently purchased a new couch and loveseat...  So out with the old!  It will go to the Salvation Army later today.  It doesn't count since we are replacing the pieces... however.... as we were cleaning out getting ready for the switch we found several things that are going!!!!!
We got rid of a VCR that hasn't been used in ages..  off to recycling, several phone cords, a phone that we don't use any more, a cat scratcher thing our cats now ignore, and three books.  So not too bad for the week.

So I am now up to 131 items total, just 235 items to go.  It seems like a lot to go but since we aren't even finished with Feb. yet I think it sounds pretty good.

We haven't really had much winter but occasionally we get a dusting of snow.  That is what you can see through my window, behind these pretty bottles. 

Needless to say the snow is GONE now and it is about 45 degrees outside.  It feels like Spring and the bulbs I showed you last week have come up another inch or so.

I was going through my fabric stash and also my pattern pile and found pattern to make "tomatoes" so I did and filled a basket I had just sitting empty.  It seems strange to start off the post with decluttering and end with addition of more stuff.  But the fabric, stuffing and basket were all things I had in my craft room.  Now I can enjoy them for awhile before I move them out.  And they look fun in my kitchen until I can bring in summer fresh produce.
