Teacup Tuesday

In my May26th post  I showed this picture of a new favorite hanger plant...  Lofos. 

Well here we are, a little over a month later, and look at it now.  It will soon take over my yard.... LOL

 And here is a Wild Turkey that came to visit our bird feeders a week or so ago.  She is huge.  I was so far away I didn't get as good a picture as I wanted.

We have been away from home this past week at a Bluegrass Festival.  I may talk about our week in another post.  But while I didn't prepare a tea party for you I found a few tea things at a flea market I attended during our trip to the festival.
      I did not buy any of these but thought they were pretty.  Actually I already have almost a full set of the red transfer ware...  English Scenes.  But took the picture anyway.  I know there are several participants in  Tea Cup Tuesday that often feature this and similar patterns.  The two in the back look to be smaller and a bit different.  I forgot to check the marks.  I only did it for the front one. (That is the one like I have several of.)

 and here is the mark.  I thought it was interesting that it was made for a store in Philadelphia. 

 Since I live in Pennsylvania this makes good sense.

Another summer tea party

  Another lovely summer day in which to have tea out on my deck.

I have included my citronella plant to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

  

 Some brownies on a pretty little "cottage" plate from H and K Tunstall.

And a sweet little creamer.

The tea cup is a very different looking one from Adderley.  I had not seen this one before but I like it.

And here is a look at one of the New Guinea Impatiens I have at the end of my deck.   I love how much cheer it brings to the space!

I "Really" need another project.

After reorganizing my wool and felt fabrics to do the projects I mentioned in my last "crafting" post, I decided I needed to get my floss stash organized  I have an embarrassingly large amount but they were here and there.  They are now in order.  I have a large box with little baggies for each of the DMC numbers... and they are in order.  The other types of floss are now in larger baggies by type.  I don't have so many of any one type to make it hard to find what I need....
My favorites are really the "over dyes" created by The Gentle Arts, Weeks Dye Works,   and Valdani.  I also have some Needle Necessities Over Dyes left from the past though they are no longer made.  There is another company called Thread Worx  that sells similar thread.  I don't have any at the moment since I don't seem to need any but if I do I "may" try them out. Lots of types and colors and so I should be ready for anything.


SO...... while doing all that  I got caught up in an on line group that does what is called "prim stitchery."  Most of the projects are small and relatively simple so I now have a few kitted up ready to go. After my reorganization I realize I am not going to have to buy any supplies.  My "stash" has more than enough!

One of the projects is called Sweet Land of Liberty.   It is from Heartstring Samplery.
       If you go to her blog   The Twist Family Blog  you can learn about  it.   It will be a pin keep when I finish it. I am actually about half done with it which makes me happy.  You can purchase the chart from her etsy site....

And by belonging to the Prim Stitchery group you often get the chance to get freebie patterns... so I have taken advantage.  I now have charts to work on for no doubt the next year.  But it has become relaxing for me.  I don't do much quilting in the summer but would rather sit outside, at least, and it is nice to stitch a bit while I enjoy the outdoors.
I don't think I should show you the charts I have at the moment but will post the projects as I finish them.... if  I ever do.... LOL

As we travel a bit in the summer I will be taking the projects  with me.  I am happy that I can work on them as we are driving along.

So that is what I am doing at the moment.  I have been putting together my tea party for next Tuesday.  Be sure to check back.  And maybe I will post some of hopefully soon to finished projects.

A Simple Summer Tea

This week I thought it would be nice to have a simple tea out on the deck.

 I found a few interesting things in my collection to share with you.

The cup and saucer are a pretty little one from Royal Albert.  It doesn't have a name on the bottom. I may have shown it to you before.

I found this sweet little Shelley Creamer recently so I will use it.  I don't have the sugar unfortunately.

According to the mark the name of the flower is Campanula. 

 I have had them in my garden in the past but none this year

And to use for serving I chose a "CELERY SET" that I put to an entirely different use.   You can find these sets that were often made in Japan.  The "set" is comprised of a plate for the celery and little "salts" for use in "dipping" the celery into.  I decided the set would be perfect to hold my sweet little flower brownies (from my local bakery) and the "salts" can be used to hold the used tea bags.

I picked several different teas. One is called raspberry thriller.  I bought a box of it when I was last in Canada.  The other two (Earl Grey and Rosebud) were gifts.

Finally, today,  here is a picture of my "Wave pansies."  Even though the temperatures are heating up here they are still doing great.  They are in a shaded area and I give them lots of water.

A Day at the Flea Market

We spent the past weekend in the Syracuse area attending a high school graduation, a dance recital, a graduation party and last but not least one of our favorite flea markets...

The Central New York Regional Market in Syracuse.

It is always an interesting mix of old and new, produce, flowers,  vintage and antique items, food, coffee and a few TEA THINGS.  Actually I have to hunt for the the tea things but I almost always find some and this week was no exception.

To begin I found a pansy tea pot.... no I didn't buy it.  I hesitated and lost out when I went back and it was gone... OH well. I did get the picture.  Maybe I will find another one some day.  Besides, if I bought every cup and saucer and tea pot I found at all the flea markets we attend I would be broke have to buy a new house that was big enough to hold them all.

I saw this cute little set but they weren't in that good of shape so didn't get them.  I did enjoy seeing them as they were unusual and I had never before seen ones like them.

 This is the saucer. 

There were no marks on them.

I found this mustache cup.  I imagine our Tea Cup Tuesday friend Martha would  like it and probably would have bought it......................

Here is a pretty little tea cup set with roses.  I though Sandi when I saw this one.

And a simple tea set..

This unusual Brown Betty was nice but DIRTY as the picture shows.  I imagine all cleaned up it would have been good.  I didn't buy this one ....

But I did buy this one................

 I admit to being a sucker for the Brown Betty style teapots.

 I was surprised a bit when I read the mark.  I had sort of expected it to be from Japan.

And finally here was a grouping of cups and saucers that I did not buy but if you look at the back corner you will see a cream and sugar set I did buy.

And here it is, up close....

I thought those forget-me-nots were so sweet.  I think I might have a tea cup that goes with it out in my shop somewhere.
