Back to Miniatures

To those of you following this blog that wonder what happened to my minis and the work I was doing. Well other things seemed to get in the way. But I am back at it, albeit in perhaps a SMALLER way. The Quarter Connection online Yahoo group is gearing up for their annual On Line convention and therefore so am I. I have to make 53 tiny little quarter scale items for a swap and I have begun work on the free project offered by our wonderful leader Luci Hansen.
Here is the project. A quarter Scale Holiday House. I made the basic boxes yesterday and have started one of the rooms. It isn't really photo worthy yet but should be later today.

Check back tomorrow to see my progress.

The Daytona 500

The Nascar Racing Season has begun. Yesterday we went to a neighbors annual Daytona 500 viewing party. It always includes a wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings. We always bring the Cake. (no I didn't make it, the bakery at our grocery store did.) The powers that be at Nascar keep making the race start later and later in the day and this year it didn't start until 3:30. As it turns out they should have started earlier because a rain storm came along and the race ended at lap 152 instead of 200. Matt Kenseth was the winner even though he had only run one lap. It felt kind of anti-climatic. But we still had a nice time at the party.

Back to Miniatures

Time to Get Back to Mini Making
My arm is getting lots better and so I have gotten back to miniatures. I spent a lot of time yesterday working on a couple of small projects for the bathroom area. Here is the first one. Because of the way the walls are I decided the bathroom needed more privacy.... so..... I bought a screen. I just got an inexpensive plastic Oriental Design Screen.

This is the picture from the online store I bought it from.Y ou can see what it looked like before.

The pictures on the screen were ok but NOT what I wanted so I took out them out, covered them and put them back in. I am pretty happy with the results......

More Kitty pictures

Since I can't work on doll house much or practice my violin or lots of other things I thought I get some current pics of the cats and here they are.

Three kitties in the house make for lots of cat food consumed. The kitties don't often miss a meal.

When not eating Tuffy and Spooky like to climb into baskets. Here they are. They take turns in the same basket.

Roses are Red

For those of you who have been following my life lately you know that I had some minor surgery on my right hand... to deal with a few issues, probably resulting from too much work with my hands....

The surgery is over and I am on the recuperation side. I can almost use my right hand again, for typing a bit anyway.

The day before the surgery was our 43rd anniversary. Can hardly believe it. One interesting note on that... if I need to know how long I have been married I just have to check out the number of the super bowl. The flowers shown above are from my very special husband.

The weather was lousy on Anniversary Day so we didn't go out. Instead we stayed home and I cooked a nice meal.... Boeuf Bourgione or however you spell it. And now for Thurs, Fri. Sat. and Sun. night He gets to cook.

While not able to work on mini's I have been doing planning.... and collecting up stuff to use to decorate the doll house. And also getting ready to do things for the annual Quarter Connection On Line Convention. I have a couple of projects to do for that..... one will be a 1/4 scale Lincoln Bedroom. And I have to make 53 tiny things for the tote swap. So once I get full use of hand and arm back I shall be busy. I do know what I am going to make and have all the materials collected up. I will put a picture here after the convention, some time in March. Can't do it before cause we aren't supposed to tell in advance

Construction is taking a bit of a break

Well, I hoped to get the project finished before Jan. 29, the day I have to have surgery on my wrist.
But I didn't quite make it.... So..... I won't be doing much for a couple of days until the wrist tells me I can. I will know....

Don't not check up here though... I may be talking about other things. My left hand will still be able to type and even my right hand a bit since the surgery doesn't involve my fingers. We shall see.

I have started moving furniture into the house to see how it looks, I have ordered a few pieces I need and today I pulled out some fabrics from my stash to see what I can use for bed linens, curtains, maybe some pillows. I can at least do some planning.

Oh, and the weather today is really awful. It started out with snow, then sleet and freezing rain and then rain and now it seems to back to snow again. But the roads are clear thanks to a busy snow plow so that is good.

I will be able to move in soon.....

I got a lot of little details done on the doll house yesterday. Still seems to be a lot more but it is definitely coming to an end. I must add the corner trim, trim around the door and put on the front porch.
After that set up the room walls and move in the furniture.

I didn't get as much done as I had hoped yesterday cause I had another busy day in the shop. It was cold out but still nice so folks were out and about and some even had money....

Today I will continue to work. Hope to finish up by tonight.
